Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use it for salt or pepper?

Use it for whole peppercorns or coarse dry salt. Keep a dedicated mill for each so the flavours do not mix, and never put damp or fine table salt in a grinder.

How do I refill it?

Unscrew or lift off the top, pour whole peppercorns or coarse salt into the body, then replace the top.

How do I clean it?

Wipe the outside with a soft damp cloth and dry it. Do not soak it in water or put it in the dishwasher, which can damage the wood and the grinding mechanism.

Why is it grinding slowly?

The mill may be nearly empty, or the salt may be damp. Empty it, let it dry and refill with dry, coarse salt or whole peppercorns.

Can I mix finishes?

Yes. Many venues use one finish for salt and another for pepper.
